Volunteers Needed for Special Olympics Florida Competition

Special Olympics Florida needs FGCU students to help with the 2024 Area 7 Stand Up Paddle Competition on Saturday, June 8th from 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM at Sugden Regional Park. The Mission of Special Olympics Florida is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skill and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Volunteer tasks may include helping with escorting athletes, awards and more. Volunteers are also needed in the water to help as water marshals and starters - for those volunteers they are looking for experienced paddlers that are comfortable in the water.
