Alpha Tau Omega
About
ATO was founded nationally on September 11th, 1865 at Virginia Military Institute, and the Florida Lambda Alpha Chapter at FGCU was Colonized in the Fall of 2016 and became a fully Chartered Chapter in Fall 2017.
The purpose of the chapter is to bring college-men together and develop themselves into the best men they can be, We offer many programs and experiences that will bond brothers together, travel across the country, and develop connections that can lead to many opportunities in the future. The Lambda Alpha Chapter has FGCU Campus leaders heavily involved in Student Government, Programming Board, Orientation, First Year Advising, the Interfraternity Council, and many other areas of Campus, and we encourage all members to diversify their college experience through many different organizations.
ΑΤΩ does not have a national philanthropy, which allows each individual chapter to identify their own. We have selected the the David Lawrence Center as our philanthropy, which promotes mental health and provides campuses for those in need to stay and receive treatment.
The Creed of Alpha Tau Omega
"To bind men together in a brotherhood based upon eternal and immutable principles, with a bond as strong as right itself and as lasting as humanity; to know no North, no South, no East, no West, but to know man as man, to teach that true men the world over should stand together and contend for supremacy of good over evil; to teach, not politics, but morals; to foster, not partisanship, but the recognition of true merit wherever found; to have no narrower limits within which to work together for the elevation of man than the outlines of the world: these were the thoughts and hopes uppermost in the minds of the founders of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity."
