FGCU Medieval Combat Club
About
The Medieval Combat Club is an all-inclusive club which practices a full-contact medieval combat sport known as Belegarth. The Belegarth Medieval Combat Society is a fun and safe sport where participants wear medieval or fantasy-themed clothing and fight with foam-padded weapons. Fighters familiar with similar sports such as Dagohir or Amtgard are welcomed with open arms! To learn more about Belegarth, click here.
At Medieval Combat Club Practices, we teach FGCU students how to fight with a variety of weapons including swords, spears, pole-arms, bows, shields, and many more. Club members will learn to fight alongside others in a variety of fun games such as Kill the King, Capture the Flag, Pokemon Battles, and much more. In addition to regular practices, the Medieval Combat Club also travels to multiple large-scale Belegarth events throughout the year, including several weekend-long out-of-state events and battles against other Belegarth groups and Collegiate Belegarth clubs!
If combat is not your cup of tea, The Belegarth Medieval Combat Society has a large arts and science community based around craft works. From leather work to outfit design, there is a little bit of fun for everyone. Want to learn how our weapons are made? Attend a workshop and learn how much effort has gone into making our modern foam weapons into safe equipment for events.
If any of this sounds interesting to you or if you have any questions, please check out our Discord server or email Kathyraine Coghill our president. Practices are currently held on Rec Field 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Feel free to stop by and learn some more about our sport.
If you are interested in buying your own gear, we recommend Gorg Tech weapons and equipment, made by Gorg the Blacksmith!
